FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New World OrderIdeas for our political futureSeptember 22, 2001 The world is currently at a turning point in history. Recent events in the US which saw the total destruction of the icon of capitalism, the World Trade Centre lead us to reflect on the state of our planet. Those of us who want to see life sustained long into the future need to make our voices hear. It is time we looked at ways we can influence our governments. It seems to me that consumerism has gone completely mad. In the last two decades there ahs been a steady erosion of wages and salaries for the majority of people, while those who make the rules gain more and more. Simply put, society is driven by greed. These excesses have led to enormous payouts to directors of companies while those companies become insolvent. The recent decline of Ansett Airlines in Australia while Air New Zealand executives paid themselves a handsome bonus is testimony to this. There are many more examples. Our future depends on a number of factors. A short list I have compiled are;
These ideas create opportunities for new industries. They are the industries of the future. With global warming a significant factor in the next century, those who harness solutions to this now will be the wealthy in 10-20 years time. Governments who place their resources in the pursuit of these goals will be the strong ones. No longer can we become a rich country by digging holes in the ground. The computer bubble has burst. We clearly need new direction to move forward as a civilisation. There are powerful forces determined to keep the current status quo. Government heads of the US and Australia tell us they are not interested in reducing greenhouse gasses and that there is no problem. This is sheer lunacy. I know that those who oppose their point of view are ridiculed and marginalised. Here is how it is done.
These are just a few examples of what is going on in our world. I encourage all of you to think about the future and how to contribute to it. Lets start political movements, examine the issues and start promoting solutions. We have the internet, printing is now relatively cheap and we can still hold public meetings in many countries. I would appreciate any feedback and ideas I can place on this site. John Gaydon
