Singing the Wolfsong

When a wolf howls she is calling to her pack – singing her Wolfsong they answer the call.

When I sing I am calling to my ‘pack’ – singing my Wolfsong - may they answer the call.

Legend of Wolf

Across cultures and throughout history Dog and Wolf have been viewed as powerful totems and both have been associated with Sirius the ‘Dog Star’ ~ the brightest star you can see in the night sky. In many traditions, the Wolf as totem is related to Singing, Story Telling and Teaching and today, Wolf is thought to represent the Wild & the Dog the Civilised.

   Anubis

 Legend of Dog

Dog is featured in many ancient mythologies such as Anubis the Guardian of the Underworld in Ancient Egypt. In fact, Dog as Guardian of the Underworld is very common throughout prehistory. Today, most would recognise the dog as a symbol for unconditional love, loyalty and friendship. Dog evolved from the wolf changing from a hunter to a scavenger living close to people. While wolves head for extinction, dogs remain plentiful. Their strategy for survival has been highly successful even in cultures where they are viewed as disease-ridden pests!
